The Online Muzzleloader Hunter Course

Just like the Traditional Muzzleloader course, the Online Muzzleloader course is composed of two parts. The only difference between Traditional and the Online course is that the classroom component of the online course is completed independently on the internet. After successfully passing the Online Field Day Qualifier Exam on the internet, you must attend a Field Day specifically designed for online students, where you will discuss Alaska specific muzzleloader hunting issues and complete a standardized proficiency shoot. It is only after successfully completing both parts of the course that you will receive your Muzzleloader Certification card.

There are a few EASY steps to enroll in an Online Muzzleloader Certification Course.

1. To complete the independent study portion of the Muzzleloader Certification course, you will need an adequate computer, printer, and Internet access.
2. Study “Today’s Muzzleloader Hunter” on the website and complete the chapter review questions. Re-study any material you may have answered incorrectly.
3. When you have studied all the chapters, take the Practice Test as many times as you like-free of charge-to ensure you've mastered the course material. A different set of questions is presented each time you take the Practice Test.
4. Then to become eligible for admittance to a Field Day, take the Field Day Qualifier Examination. There is a $30.00 charge for the online exam. This fee is collected whether you pass or fail. A score of 80% is required for passing the examination.
5. Upon passing the Field Day Qualifier Exam, you can print out your Field Day Qualifier Certificate. You can then sign up online for a Field Day event in your area. At the Field Day there will be a short discussion on “Muzzleloader Only” hunts in Alaska. All students will then be required to pass a shooting proficiency with a certified instructor. Each student will use their own muzzleloader firearm, projectiles, and powder. Only blackpowder or approved blackpowder substitutes are allowed.
